Happy Holi! We had the best time celebrating Holi festival this year in Goa. We’re here to share our Holi 2022 pics and let you in on some of the history and meaning behind the event.
What is Holi and why is it celebrated?
Holi festival celebrates the triumph of good over bad. And, is a day for spreading happiness and love.
Above all, Holi is a time of joy and celebration and symbolises new beginnings. It is a Hindu festival, the Festival of Spring, and of all the Goa holidays 2022 Holi is one of the biggest and brightest (second only to perhaps Diwali, the Festival of Lights, which happens in October).
Also known as Festival of Colours or Festival of Love, Holi follows the Lunar calendar, not the Gregorian calendar. So this year, it was celebrated on 17-18th March 2022 on Full Moon. And as you can see from our pics, we celebrated properly!
Happy Holi 2022!
What do the colours of Holi mean?
The colourful powder thrown is called gulal which is made from starch and dyes. And, interestingly, each of them has a different meaning. For instance, Red is for love, blue is for Lord Krishna, pink is for kindness, yellow for happiness, and green is for life.
Our Happy Holi 2022!
Our lucky 300hrs students were here to celebrate with us this year. We had our morning practice, and after that, it was time to celebrate! So from midday through to evening, we danced, we laughed, we celebrated – five venues all around Patnem! Safe to say we absolutely smashed Holi! It was so much fun to be with the Patnem family – and massive thanks to our 300hrs students for such a fabulous day.
So if you want to join us for Holi 2023, keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming YTTC dates or book your next yoga retreat with us at Palm Trees Yoga School Goa.
